Free online interior design workshop for women only, part of URITECT’s Empowering Women program. *Certificate with class project completion.

In this free online workshop (for women only), URITECT Arch School will introduce the essential building blocks of interior design in a clear, practical way. You’ll learn how designers think about space planning, layout, balance, proportion, colour harmony, lighting, and material selection—and how to apply these principles to real rooms, even with simple tools.

What you can expect:

  • A structured, beginner-friendly lesson with visual examples
  • Practical tips you can use immediately for your home or future projects
  • A short class project to help you practice what you learn

This video introduces the core principles of interior design, explaining how elements such as balance, proportion, rhythm, and harmony work together to shape well-designed spaces. Through clear examples and visual explanations, it helps learners understand how design decisions influence both function and atmosphere, making it a strong foundation for anyone beginning or refining their interior design knowledge.

Nick Lewis

In this fast-paced overview, designer Nick Lewis walks through 50 different interior design styles from historical classics to contemporary trends. In about 25 minutes, he highlights the key characteristics of each style – for example, defining features of Art Deco (a lavish 1920s style with geometric forms and luxe materials versus those of minimalist or rustic styles. He also touches on hybrid styles like Japandi, which blend Japanese and Scandinavian design philosophies.

This video introduces the fundamentals of lighting design in interiors, explained in a clear, visual format. It covers the main principles of effective lighting, including the three layers of lighting (ambient, task, and accent) and how to balance them in a room to achieve both functionality and mood

Maria Killam

The video focuses on a practical system for working with color, especially when choosing neutrals and whites for interiors. Killam introduces what she calls “the most helpful tool for choosing neutrals and whites” in paints and finishes demystifying how to identify undertones and get colors to work together harmoniously. By watching this free training, viewers learn to avoid common color mistakes and gain professional tips on developing sophisticated color palettes.
